EAST ANGUS, QC, May 5, 2025 – The Haut-Saint-François Community Development Corporation (CDC du HSF) and its development officer, Edwin Moreno, were recognized at the prestigious 2025 Regional Immigration Awards Gala held by the Fédération des Communautés Culturelles de l'Estrie on May 1, 2025, at the Granada Theater.
It is with great pride that the CDC du HSF announces that it has won the “Innovative Integration Non-Profit Organization Award” in the “Businesses and Organizations” category for its initiatives to create conditions conducive to the integration of immigrants within its organization and in the Haut-Saint-François community. The organization also welcomes the nomination of Edwin Moreno, its development officer responsible for cultural diversity issues, as a finalist in the “Individual” category.
The CDC's recognition of the HSF is a testament to its commitment and innovative actions, particularly through its RurAltérité project, which aims to strengthen intercultural skills and openness to diversity among community stakeholders and Quebecers of all origins in the Haut-Saint-François region.
Edwin Moreno's nomination in the “Individual” category highlights his personal commitment and significant impact in promoting cultural diversity and the integration of immigrants in the region, particularly through his community mobilization efforts and coordination of numerous activities promoting intercultural understanding, awareness, communication, and the fight against discrimination.
"We are immensely proud of this victory, both for our organization and for Edwin's exceptional commitment," said Jinny Mailhot, Executive Director of the CDC du HSF.
“This demonstrates the importance we collectively place on diversity and the richness that newcomers bring to our community. This distinction encourages us to continue our efforts with even greater determination in the fight against racism and discrimination.”
The 2025 Regional Immigration Awards Gala recognizes the initiatives of regional county municipalities (RCMs), entrepreneurs, and organizations that contribute to building an open, welcoming, and supportive environment for immigrants settling in the Estrie region, as well as the remarkable achievements of individuals with immigrant backgrounds.
