Newport is a large rural municipality in the Haut-St-François region of Quebec's Eastern Townships, where the hamlets of:
Island Brook

Lawrence

Randboro

St-Mathias-
de-Bonneterre


The territory—covering an area of 269.95 km—is watered by the Eaton River and the Sherman, Island, and Lyon streams. The population of approximately 750 lives mainly from agriculture and forestry.
Newport is located about 30 kilometers east of Sherbrooke and is distinguished by its harmonious landscapes and architecture that reflects its English-speaking origins.
Here is the coat of arms chosen for our municipality. Newport has a vast and multifaceted territory, and to represent it well, the coat of arms is composed of several elements that characterize it.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the design of our logo. In particular, Ricky Parsons, Jeremy and Josh Martin, and Rita Martin, who won the contest launched in 1993. Denis Palmer, who drew several montages of the winning designs. And Normand Graillon, who submitted the final design.


“During the first edition of the ”Regards vers le Haut" day, organized by the MRC and the Local Development Center (CLD) in the fall of 2014, 14 municipalities in the MRC had the opportunity to express their vision of the region's long-term needs.
